John joined MP&M in 1974 as the firm's first associate. He has been a shareholder and director of the firm since 1979 and Managing Director from 1998-2008. His practice is focused on corporate and business matters and on issues related to economic regulation, including public utilities, and transportation law.
John handles a wide range of business matters for corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies, including formation and start-up, stock sales and transfers, acquisitions/sales of businesses, liquidation, and dissolution. He also serves as general advisor and counselor to many business entities of all sizes. He recently has been involved in the resolution of disputes between existing shareholders of companies that lack definitive shareholder agreements.
John represents telephone, electric, and ferry public utilities in a wide variety of corporate, operational, financing, and regulatory matters. He also represents a large number of trucking companies and is familiar with the motor transportation business. He is presently the Chairman of the Maine Motor Transport Association.
John served in the Peace Corps in West Africa for two years, lived in Tokyo for a year, and spent an extended period with his family living in China. He and his wife Nancy, have lived in Falmouth, Maine with their family since 1974.
