Tower Publishing released The Great Land Grab this week, a book that details the evidence underlying a case that resulted in a quantum leap in the law surrounding ownership of Maine’s beaches. The book was written by the team of experts that proved that the Town of Kennebunkport owns Goose Rocks beach, rather than private landowners, as had been believed for centuries. The Law Court affirmed the decision for the Town earlier this month in Almeder v. Town of Kennebunkport.

John Bannon has had the invaluable opportunity of working throughout his career with Surveyor Robert Yarumian, a co-author of the book, and was well-positioned to provide commentary on the topic of who owns Maine’s shores. John was honored to be included in the book’s introduction, with his commentary on the history of such cases.
